The month of July came to a close this past weekend but a host of talented prospects had impressed throughout from coast to coast during various platforms.  The NY2LA Sports live evaluation platforms were no exception as a number of highly regarded prospects delivered scintillating efforts on the hardwood in Wisconsin. Last week we took a look at the First and Second All-NY2LA Performers and today we continue with the Third Team All-NY2LA Performers from July 2017…

Note – Listed in Alphabetical Order

Quinn Blair – 2018 – F – R.E.A.C.H. Legends
A skilled and instinctive forward with the ability to score facing the basket and with his back to the basket, Blair saw his recruiting stock soar with a number of high caliber efficient performances during both the Next Level Invitational and the NY2LA Sports Summer Jam.  A two sport standout with grades, Blair added a plethora of offers as he showed range beyond the arc, an ability to finish in transition, a desire to contribute on both ends of the court, and an overall leadership quality that helped his team to a number of impressive wins.

David McCormack – 2018 – C – Team Loaded VA
A powerful double double interior machine in a class that has limited bigs, McCormack has the size, length, frame, and power to develop into a special player at the next level and his future is bright in college and beyond with continued development.  His performances during the NY2LA Sports Summer Jam were impressive as expected as he finished around the basket, cleaned the glass, ran the floor well, and served as a dominant and physical interior presence on both ends of the floor.  One of the most coveted prospects in the 2018 class nationally, McCormack played as expected and delivered a high caliber resume in Wisconsin this past July.

Matt Mitchell – 2017 – G/F – Dream Vision
A tough, physical, athletic wing who can do it all, Mitchell was a huge part of the Dream Vision 17U championship run in the NY2LA Sports Summer Jam not only with his offensive exploits but also with his ability to lock up and shut down opposing players defensively.  He’s athletic in a slashing sense in that he can score in transition easily and he loves to be on the attack with the basketball.  His jumper can wet the nets at the mid-range level and he showed continued range that extended beyond the arc throughout the week.  His strength, versatility, and toughness makes him a matchup problem for opposing teams because you have to match Mitchell’s energy and athleticism every time down the court.  He ran the floor hard, finished in transition, attacked off the bounce, cleaned the glass, etc. and that was just offensively.  Defensively when it mattered at key points he took the challenge of locking up the other team’s best player and did so in impressive fashion.  Really like what he brings to the table for any program he lands with.

Josh Nickelberry – 2019 – SG – Game Elite 2019
Love this young talented guard who has an electric smooth perimeter stroke and a bunch of ways to get open and get his jumper going.  His range extends well beyond the arc and he has the ability to score with the ball in his hands and coming off screens.  His step back off the bounce is lethal in that he not only freezes defenders but he then generates tremendous spacing on the step back while keeping his balance and his jumper is effortless when doing so.  When he comes to pure scoring guards he’s as smooth and efficient as it gets.  Mix in explosive athleticism, a high level of charisma and leadership when he’s on the floor, and the desire and willingness to take and make big shots and it’s easy to see why Nickelberry is one of the most coveted prospects in the country for the 2019 class.  He has everything needed to be that dude, now it’s just a matter of continuing to work hard, develop, and write his story.

Kyree Walker – 2020 – SG – Dream Vision
College Commitment – Arizona State University

An explosive and electric young guard with personality, athleticism, explosion, and skill, Walker like all the rest on here was tremendous during his performance in Wisconsin in July.  He helped the Dream Vision 17U team to the 17U Championship of the NY2LA Sports Summer Jam with a number of high caliber electric performances that wowed the fans and writers/coaches in attendance at the same time.  In the open court he’s pure poetry at times as he can finish in a variety of ways with both hands while soaring through the air to posterize defenders when the opportunity arises.  He handles it well and can break down defenders in half court sets and in transition to score or to create for his teammates.  His perimeter stroke is evolving and throughout the platform he knocked down some mid-range looks and some jumpers beyond the arc with consistency.  His power and athleticism is a rare combination for a young player but Walker has it and his boyish enjoyment of being on the court and having fun is refreshing to watch at times.  An electric talent who’s highly regarded from coast to coast, Walker was scintillating throughout the NY2LA Sports Summer Jam and he impressed in the process.
