Just a few days after receiving a scholarship offer from University of Missouri Kansas City, Caden Boser quickly made his decision. On Thursday night, Boser announced his commitment to UMKC on twitter. The senior is a forward of Eau Claire Memorial High School and the Wisconsin Swing.
When asked why he picked decided to pick UMKC Boser mentioned several things but said the main deciding factor was the coaches and players. “I think the most important thing was the coaches and players were great,” Boser said. Other reasons the senior talked about included the campus, the city of Kansas City, and an overall good fit with the program.
Boser picked the Roos over his other scholarship offers from UIC and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. As well he had interest from Abilene Christian, Columbia, Cornell, Northern Colorado, among a few others. “Kansas City really wanted me to know I was their number one option and that meant a lot,” Boser talked about when asked how that differed from the other schools who were interested in him.
The senior joins D’Anthony Pennington as the second member of the Roos 2020 recruitment class. Pennington is a 6’2” point guard from North Kansas City High School (MO). UMKC is a Division 1 school and a member of the WAC. While they are coming off a tough 11-21 season Boser sees a bright future, “I also believe coach Donlon is building something special down there.”
The 6’8” power forward is one of the better three-point shooting big men in the region. He has a solid frame and does a great job stretching the floor. Before heading south to Kansas City next year, Boser has one goal of winning a state championship.
