Wendell Green Junior was the MVP of the 2019 NY2LA Association and he always showed a great feel for decision making. So it’s not a surprise that Green has made his decision today, committing to Eastern Kentucky University and Head Coach AW Hamilton. We caught up with green to hear about why he chose the Colonels…
NY2LA –Congrats! So Why EKU?
GREEN JR. - I picked EKU, because of the love the coaches showed me. It was genuine and the situation there was the best fit for me.
NY2LA- You just got offered by TCU a few weeks back and a few others schools have started to come strong so why did you feel the time was right now?
GREEN JR. - I found the right fit early and wanted to take advantage of this opportunity leading to me committing early. I feel like I fit with the fast playing style and the team has great pieces for me to come in and make an immediate impact and win games and make the tournament!
NY2LA- How did the last 2 years of being at LaLumiere and playing on the NY2LA Basketball circuit get you to this point?
GREEN JR. - NY2LA gave me a great platform for exposure with good competition and a chance to show things I have in my game. La Lumiere pushes me to go harder every day and in the games I’m playing against the best of the best!.
NY2LA- So now that you committed what’s the plan for your senior year?
GREEN JR. - Win a national championship is my main goal for the team for this year!
Wendell Green Jr is one of the top lead guards in the country and this is a huge pickup for Coach AW Hamilton. With the up-tempo style that EKU plays Green can have an immediate impact with his tenacious defense and ability to push the ball. After leading the Michigan Playmakers to the 2019 NY2LA Association 17U title, Green can now focus on helping prep powerhouse LaLumiere this season. Congrats on the commitment Wen!
