As late blooming prospects go there a host of 2022’s still on the board and We Are United Prep in Missouri is home to a few of them.  One such talent made his way the new program by way of Wisconsin in the form of wing John Lovelace Jr. who attended Brown Deer High School last year before moving on to Missouri.

A 6’7 plus length wing, Lovelace has always had the potential and after a solid spring and summer campaign with the Phenom University program the athletic wing knew he needed to get some more seasoning and development to take the step he wanted.  Enter former Milwaukee Vincent standout and professional Robert Yanders who founded We Are United Prep and is regarded as one of the premiere trainers and developers of talent in the country.  Lovelace embraced the extra year concept and he’s been elevating his play since taking the court in Missouri.  An athletic wing who always had elite defensive potential, Lovelace also has the ability to score from all three levels, finish through traffic, post up as needed, soar in transition, and knock down the trey ball.  A bit stronger and more polished, where flashes once stood they’ve now been replaced by consistency and the talented wing is having a solid campaign for We Are United Prep to the tune of almost 17 points a game and close to 8 rebounds a contest.

Schools are taking notice as well as Eastern Washington, Eastern Kentucky, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, Tennessee State, and Western Illinois have checked in on the emerging wing.  He’s one of the true sleepers in a 2022 class hit heavily recruiting wise by the Covid-19 pandemic and the evolving transfer portal but regardless, Lovelace is taking those next steps to really polishing himself as a player and he’s a potential steal for someone needing to fill our their 2022 class with an athletic skilled wing that can defend at an elite level.
